ANCHORAGE, Alaska —
Aces forward Wes Goldie played his first game in Victoria as a visitor on Wednesday night. Unfortunately for him, the home-standing Salmon Kings forgot to break out a welcome mat. Victoria defeated Alaska, 6-3, scoring four unanswered goals during the second and third periods to break open a 1-1 tie. Goldie, whose 26 goals rank second in the ECHL, played nearly 300 games for Victoria before signing with the Aces during the off-season.
Goldie and Scott Howes ( another former Salmon King ) assisted on Brian Swanson's 16th goal of the season in the third period. Tyler Ruegsegger and Brandon Coccimiglio buried Alaska's other goals.
The loss drops the Aces to 24-17-2 overall, while the last place Salmon Kings move to 19-24-3. The teams continue their three game series on Friday.
