Grab a gal-pal or form a team, create a costume, and get signed-up! Race it or join the “Party Wave” if you’re only in it for the fun.  Costume contest, awards, prizes & fun female-bonding! Benefits local non-profit groups to help stop domestic violence.   
In-person registration and bib pick-up will be available at REI at 1200 W Northern Lights Blvd. on Thursday, Feb. 3 and Friday, Feb. 4 from noon to 7:30 p.m.

“The Spirit of Harriet Tubman”

With one hour, one woman, a barren stage and a trunk full of costumes, Leslie McCurdy uses Harriet Tubman’s own words to tell the story of her life from slave, to the Underground Railroad and later years.  This vibrant, spirited, emotionally moving performance is the perfect commemoration of Black History Month.

Arctic Valley Ski Area opened for skiers and snowboarders last Saturday.  About 120 people enjoyed the first tracks of the year.  With the fresh snow forecasted for this week, this upcoming weekend looks promising.  Arctic Valley will be open both Saturday and Sunday with chairlifts running 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM.  Both chair lifts and the T-Bar will be operational.  Lift ticket prices are $32 for the general public and $19 for Anchorage Ski Club members.  Discounts are offered to active military, seniors and students. Children under 7 and seniors over 70 ski free.  Half day tickets are also available starting at 2:00 PM.

The After Glow upstairs in the lodge serves beer and wine.  The kitchen will also be open serving hot food, soups and snacks.
