ANCHORAGE, Alaska —

Former Anchorage police officer Anthony Rollins testified in his own defense Wednesday morning, during his trial for allegedly using his authority to sexually assault six women.

Rollins took the stand before a standing-room-only courtroom, with many police officers present. He began by describing his meeting with his first accuser, whom he had just arrested for a DUI, saying she seemed cold and upset but began to relax as they talked about her piercings.

Rollins said he told the woman she could use the bathroom at a police substation in Mountain View, but had to leave the door open. He and the woman subsequently began to touch each other, and Rollins said she told him he could -- although he admitted he wasn’t supposed to be doing so because he was on duty.

The woman had her head down and was shaking her head during Rollins’ testimony.

Rollins' testimony then moved on to his second accuser, which deeply upset her mother who was seated in the courtroom.

"She said yes, she was a full participant," Rollins told the jury, when asked about having sex with the second woman.

Just before going on break, Rollins told the court the third accuser gave him permission to come to her home.

After a break, the prosecution began asking Rollins questions. Rollins seemed to keep a calm demeanor despite the intense questioning.

Rollins admits to breaking the law by looking up women in the police database, which is a violation of police code.

While he confessed to having consensual sex with at least three women, Rollins said he's not sure how many women other than his wife he has slept with.
