ANCHORAGE, Alaska —
Former Anchorage police officer Anthony Rollins testified in his own defense Wednesday morning, during his trial for allegedly using his authority to sexually assault six women.
Rollins took the stand before a standing-room-only courtroom, with many police officers present. He began by describing his meeting with his first accuser, whom he had just arrested for a DUI, saying she seemed cold and upset but began to relax as they talked about her piercings.
Rollins said he told the woman she could use the bathroom at a police substation in Mountain View, but had to leave the door open. He and the woman subsequently began to touch each other, and Rollins said she told him he could -- although he admitted he wasn’t supposed to be doing so because he was on duty.
The woman had her head down and was shaking her head during Rollins’ testimony.
Rollins' testimony then moved on to his second accuser, which deeply upset her mother who was seated in the courtroom.
