WASILLA, Alaska — Worried homeowners along Wasilla Creek are hoping Thursday that someone will take responsibility for the flooding on their property.

Paul Felthauser, his brother and father are just a few of the people frustrated with the Mat-Su Borough and the state. They say they've gotten few answers from officials about why their land is covered with water.

The Felthausers believe the culverts upstream were thawed by the Division of Transportation, forcing a nearby homeowner to pump water back into the creek to keep water away from her home.

But a spokesperson from the DOT says that hasn’t happened yet this year.

Felthauser’s home hasn’t been reached by the water yet, but his brother, who lives next door, has been constantly running a pump to keep water out of his home’s crawl space.

“Nobody wants to take responsibility, you know, state DOT’s not answering their phone calls the borough came out and said, ‘Yup,’ and that was it. We need some help trying to protect the properties,’ said Felthauser.
