February 12, 2011|by Jackie Bartz | Channel 2 News

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Alaska Air National Guard's 176th Wing said goodbye to Kulis Air National Guard Base Saturday. The wing will now be located on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

“I take great comfort to know that we're moving into a neighborhood that's surrounded by good friends even before we arrive,” said ANG Brig. Gen. Charles E. Foster.

The Alaska Air National Guard spent over 50 years at Kulis. Col. Marjorie Paulson was the first woman to join the Alaska ANG.

“It’s still the wonderful Guard family, where we work hard together, play hard together and feel a strong love for the country, and the state,” Paulson said.

The goodbye was marked by a final training mission, where several planes departed Kulis and landed at JBER.
