ANCHORAGE, Alaska —
The UAA Men's and Women's Basketball teams both lost important match-ups Thursday night. The men started off against St.Martin's with a 17-4 lead against the Saints, but the game quickly turned. Despite Mario Gill's 16 pts, the Seawolves were not able to pull off the win, losing 60-54. The Saints beat the Seawolves for the thrid straight time at home.
The game was essential to the teams future, as only the top eight teams in Division II's eight regions qualify for their respective regional tournaments, and with the men ranked at number seven on Wednesday, the loss will not help their chances.
More bad news on the ladies side, as sixth ranked Western Washington has proven to be the better team for the second time this season. Kaitlin McBride fought hard notching 16 points, but the Seawolves still lost Thursday night 67-57.
Both teams have a chance to bounce back on Saturday. The men at Western Oregon, and the women at Simon Frasier.
