Aces Hook Steelheads, Take Over First

February 18, 2011|By Kevin Wells | Channel 2 Sports

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Alaska Aces have erased the memory of an eight-game winless streak on the road, a skid that stretched into February.

Alaska won its fourth straight game away from home and moved into the lead in the ECHL Mountain Division with a 5-2 victory over the Idaho Steelheads.

Wes Goldie scored his league-leading 30th goal of the season and tallied three assists, while fellow veteran Brian Swanson added two goals and one helper.

With the win, Alaska improves to 30-19-2 overall, and its 62 points are enough to pass Utah for first place.
