ConocoPhillips Says Japan Crisis Does Not Change Plans to Shutter Kenai LNG

JUNEAU, Alaska — ConocoPhillips says the ongoing crisis in Japan does not change the company's plans to mothball the Kenai liquefied natural gas plant.

Company spokesperson Natalie Lowman said Wednesday they still plan to end exports to Tokyo Electric and Tokyo Gas this spring.

Lowman said in a statement that ConocoPhillips is closely monitoring the situation to see if they can assist with short-term needs.

ConocoPhillips announced in February plans to shut down the Kenai LNG plant after it said contracts with the Tokyo utilities could not be renewed.
