One Dead Near Palmer After Car Leaves Road, Burns

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — One person died Wednesday night after a car left a road near Palmer and burst into flames, according to state troopers.

Mat-Su emergency medical services and Alaska Bureau of Highway Patrol troopers responded to a 911 call at about 8:45 p.m., reporting a single-vehicle collision at Mile 5 of Knik River Road.

Troopers spokesperson Megan Peters says EMS responders found the vehicle fully consumed by fire, with one person dead inside.

Troopers are investigating both the victim’s identity and the cause of the collision.
