Great Alaska Sportsman Show Takes Weekend Stage

April 03, 2011|By Amberia Hill | Channel 2 News

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The 28th annual Great Alaska Sportsman Show wrapped up Sunday at the Sullivan and Ben Boeke Arenas. For four days hundreds of vendors and experts gathered to show off the latest in outdoor recreation.

The schedule featured several seminars on topics like new fishing techniques, woodwork and a cabin-building clinic.

Organizer Rick Matthews says the show is meant to be interesting for the whole family, while catering to serious outdoor enthusiasts.

"You can't just do the same show every year and expect people to come and say, 'Oh, I saw that last year,'" Matthews said. "We have new people presenting seminars every year, we have new vendors every year, and of course we have the same favorites every year."
