ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Alaska Aces will take on the Idaho Steelheads Wednesday night at the Qwest Arena in Boise for Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals. The Aces lead the best-of-seven series 2-0 after a victorious weekend at home.
This time, the Aces take on the Steelheads at their home arena, where the Steelheads had a 17-19 record in the regular season.
The Aces’ took the lead in the series with a 2-1 Friday victory and a 2-0 victory Saturday.
Friday’s goals came from ECHL MVP Wes Goldie and Curtis Fraser. Scott Howes and team captain Scott Burt buried two pucks for Saturday’s victory.
Burt won two Kelly Cup titles with the Steelheads, in 2007 and 2004, but doesn't expect a warm welcome.
"I think that was shown during that last shootout, when we won and I got some boos. I'm not worried about that. I have some great friends here, but those are past memories. You have to look forward. I have a great family and a great life in Alaska, and a great group of guys who are buying into the same system, and that's all we care about," Burt said Wednesday morning.
