ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Alaska Aces will face the Victoria Salmon Kings in the ECHL’s Western Conference Finals, starting this week. The best-of-seven series is the final step before the Kelly Cup Playoffs.

The Aces advanced after a clean four-game sweep of the Idaho Steelheads. Victoria defeated the Utah Grizzlies, also in a four-game sweep. The Salmon Kings’ final victory over the Grizzlies came with a 2-1 victory in double-overtime.

Victoria is ranked seventh in the Western Conference, while the Aces sit atop the regular-season rankings at No. 1.

On the Eastern side of the Kelly Cup Bracket, the Kalamazoo Wings defeated the Reading Royals in a clean sweep Friday in their Eastern Conference semifinal series.

The Wheeling Nailers and Greenville Road Warriors are still in the midst of a semifinal battle. Wheeling leads the series 3-2, with Game 6 scheduled for Tuesday night. The winner of that series will face Kalamazoo.
