Man Shot in Face in Anchorage

April 27, 2011|By Kortnie Horazdovsky | Channel 2 News

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Anchorage police are searching for suspects after a man was shot in the face Tuesday afternoon while driving.

According to APD two vehicles, a silver car and a white sedan, were driving east on 16th Avenue between C and E streets just before 3 p.m. when the white sedan stopped. The silver car then drove past it when someone in the white sedan shot at the silver vehicle.

APD spokesperson Marlene Lammers says the driver of the silver car, who officials believe was its only occupant, was struck multiple times, at least once in the face. The victim continued driving east then stopped at 16th Avenue and E Street, where he got out and was picked up by a white SUV. That vehicle was taking him to the hospital when it was stopped by APD at 15th Avenue and Gambell Street, where medics took over.

Police believe the white sedan then did a U-turn on 16th, and then headed south on E Street towards Valley of the Moon Park.

Police say the victim was unconscious when he was transported to the hospital. No more information on his condition was available Thursday morning, but investigators hoped to interview him in the afternoon.

Lammers says witnesses reported seeing a woman with blond hair driving the white vehicle, with two black males also inside.
