Whiitter, Alaska — A man who's working on a commercial fishing boat in Alaska this summer found out he lost his home during the tornados in Oklahoma.

Jordan Stover, who's fishing for salmon out of Whittier, only learned about the destruction of his house in Piedmont, Oklahoma when the boat was forced to return to port after a whale jumped through the nets, destroying them.

Stover said when he called home to check-in, his grandmother told him what happened.
"I guess her house, and my uncle's house and my house is all gone," said Stover.

He said his grandmother told him to stay in Alaska to earn as much money as possible since his family has lost everything in the storms.

Stover said his brother and sister-in-law were trapped in their storm shelter for a few hours after the tornado because debris feel on top of the entrance.

Stover says his two story brick home was more than 20 years old and was built by his father who died five years ago.
