ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Anchorage police have arrested a suspect who allegedly shot a security guard and bystander at Platinum Jaxx nightclub Downtown Sunday morning.

According to APD spokesperson Lt. Dave Parker, 26-year-old Aaron Cook was arrested Sunday at 6:08 p.m. after a friend of Cook's saw the news and called police.

Officials say Cook shot a security guard in the leg at the nightclub, on the 900 block of 6th Avenue, at about 3:19 a.m. Sunday. The bullet passed through the guard's leg and struck a male patron in the hip, and both men were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses told police Cook had become upset when he was denied entry to the club because he didn't have ID. Cook reportedly returned with his ID but Parker says guards again refused to let him in, because they felt he would be disruptive due to an earlier verbal dispute he initiated with them.

Cook then returned a third time carrying a pistol and shot the security guard. According to Parker, Cook left the area with three other people in a Chevy Impala. The car was discovered unoccupied a few hours later.

Felony warrants for Cook's arrest were issued for two counts of first-degree assault, second-degree misconduct invoving a weapon and reckless endangerment. Cook's bail was set at $30,000 with a court-approved third-party custodian required for release.

Cook will be arraigned Monday at 2:30 p.m.
