July 23, 2011|by Jackie Bartz

Anchorage, Alaska — Governor Sean Parnell (R-Alaska) donned an apron, and spent his Saturday serving Alaskans hamburgers on the Park Strip in Anchorage for the annual Governor's Family Picnic.

First lady Sandy Parnell, as well as Lieutenant Governor Mead Treadwell, Cabinet Members and volunteers also helped dish out food at the picnic.

"We need the chance to just get out and serve communities as best we can and demonstrate that service," said Parnell as he handed out a hamburger.

Yesterday, the Governor hosted a Family Picnic in the Mat-Su Valley at the Alaska State Fairgrounds and despite the heat hundreds showed up to that event as well.
