Dipnetting: Chitina Gets Supplemental Harvest, Fish Creek to Open

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has amended the opening for personal-use dipnetting in Chitina and added a supplemental harvest period.

The Department says the Chitina Subdistrict will be open to personal-use dipnetting from 12:01 a.m. Monday, August 1 through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, August 7. During that time, a supplemental permit for 10 additional sockeye salmon will be valid.

The Department reminds fishermen that the Chitina subdistrict is closed to the retention of king salmon for the rest of the 2011 season.

In North Cook Inlet, the Fish Creek personal-use dipnet fishery will open over the weekend.

The area will be open from 6 a.m. Friday, July 29 through 11 p.m. Sunday, July 31. All salmon species except king salmon are allowed to be retained at Fish Creek.
