Fish and Game suggests sharpening your bow hunting skills by taking aim at some northern pike. The arrow must be attached to the bow and you get to keep all the pike you catch.

Kenai Peninsula –
A number of emergency orders are in effect throughout the Kenai area.
Approximately 300 yards downstream from the mouth of Slikok Creek, upstream to the outlet of Skilak Lake, and in the Moose River from its confluence with the Kenai River upstream to the northern-most edge of the Sterling Highway Bridge, only king salmon less than 20 inches or more than 55 inches can be kept. The use of bait is not allowed. This order is in effect until July 31.
The bag limit for sockeye salmon has been raised from three per day and three in possession to six per day and six in possession.
The Kenai River personal use fishery is open 24 hours a day until July 31.
Bait is prohibited at the Kenai River, from its mouth to the Fish and Game markers at the outlet of Skilak Lake. Fishing gear is limited to one unbaited, single-hook, artificial lure until 11:59 p.m., Sunday, July 31.
The Kenai and Kasilof rivers personal use dip net fisheries are open and late-runs of king salmon are underway. The Department of Fish and Game is reporting fair fishing in the area.
Mat-Su –
Fish Creek will be open to dipnetting for all salmon, except kings, starting Friday, July 29 and ends Sunday, July 31 at 11:00 p.m. Dipnetting is only permitted between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.
Rod-and-reel fishing doesn’t open at Fish Creek until August 13, however kids under 15 will be able to cast out this weekend, between the times of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
The bag limit for salmon on all West Cook Inlet and west-side Susitna River tributaries, except for Alexander Creek is three per day and six in possession. On the east-side Susitna and Knik Arm streams, including Jim Creek, the bag limit is three, only two of which can be silver salmon.
Bait is not allowed at the Little Susitna River until August 6.
Rainbow trout fishing on Parks Highway streams from Willow Creek north has been good. Fishing for Dolly Varden and Arctic grayling should be fair in the same area.
There is no bag or possession limit and no closed season on pike in the area. However, wanton waste laws do apply, so be sure to use or donate to charity all the pike you harvest.
Fish and Game says fishing is excellent in Valley lakes and suggests you try fishing later or earlier in the day and look for structure such as fallen trees, lily pads and weed beds.
