ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Anchorage police arrested a wanted felon Wednesday morning after a chase in the Turnagain area.

According to APD spokesperson Marlene Lammers, a man wanted on a felony eluding charge slipped away from police Tuesday night.

Tyler Goresen, 23, was stopped by APD on 10th Avenue and Hyder Street Tuesday for failing to stop at a stop sign. After being pulled over, Goresen refused to remove his keys from the ignition of his vehicle. He then accelerated and fled the scene.

Officers did not pursue Goresen Tuesday night fearing it would lead the suspect to drive even more recklessly, Lammers said.

On Wednesday morning, Goresen’s white Nissan Sentra was spotted in the area of Northern Lights Blvd. and Minnesota Blvd. A traffic officer and another patrol officer attempted to pin Goresen in traffic. Goresen rammed both police vehicles and two civilian vehicles before fleeing down westbound on Northern Lights.

At the Northern Lights and Turnagain intersection, Goresen struck a 2005 Subaru Legacy.

Goresen exited his vehicle and took off on foot into the West Turnagain neighborhood.

The suspect was located in the area of Knik and 27th Avenue.  After another attempt to flee, Goresen was tazed by an officer.

Other outstanding warrants for Goresen include felony eluding, felony assault, felony theft and other misdemeanor warrants.

The driver of the Subaru suffered minor injuries. No other injuries have been reported.
