August 26, 2011|by Kevin Wells | Channel 2 Sports

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The kicking game proved critical in Friday's Cook Inlet Conference football games.  For the second straight week, South won by a single point, as Griffin Toomey booted the game-winning extra point following Michael Wilson's rushing touchdown in the third quarter of a 7-6 win over East.  The T-Birds scored their touchdown in the second quarter.  The win gives South a 2-1 record in conference play, while the T-Birds fall to 1-1 in league.

Also in the CIC, West defeated Dimond, 13-7 on Connor Feckley's fourth quarter touchdown pass to Lamarr Brown.  With the Lynx driving in the final minute of play, Desmond Corpuz intercepted Ryden Hines at the 1-yard line to seal the win for West, now 1-1 in conference.  Dimond drops to 0-2 in the CIC.

In the Railbelt Conference, Juneau stayed unbeaten by defeating Palmer, 29-14.  Elsewhere, North Pole picked up its first win and dealt Lathrop its first loss, 62-18.
