ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Federal authorities in Anchorage say one of the eight men arrested earlier this year in connection with two Mountain View deaths has entered a guilty plea to two charges of distributing a controlled substance.
U.S. Attorney Karen Loeffler says Marquinn Jones-Nelson pled guilty Friday before District Court Judge Ralph Beistline to the two-count indictment, which involved sales of crack cocaine Jones-Nelson made in December 2010 and January 2011.
After the drug sales, Jones-Nelson was indicted by the state in May on charges of first-degree and second-degree murder, third-degree weapons misconduct and tampering with physical evidence in the March 24 killing of Devante Jordan.
Jordan, who was shot to death at a Mountain View apartment complex, had been considered a suspect in the Sept. 20, 2009 shooting of 17-year-old Desirae Douglas, who died when she was caught in what prosecutors described as a gang-related “gun battle” at an East Anchorage party.
