ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Anchorage Police Department busted an Anchorage man for allegedly trying to convince an ex-girlfriend to sedate her 14-year-old daughter, in order to let him have sex with her. Ralph Hernandez, 49, promised to rekindle the relationship if the victim's mother would allow him to have sex with her daughter, according to an APD press release.
The woman contacted police and detectives organized a face-to-face meeting between her and the suspect on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011. During the meeting, Hernandez gave the woman a sleeping pill and told her to buy condoms and personal lubricant, according to police.
On Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, Hernandez reportedly met the woman at a restaurant near the home of the victim. Undercover detectives say they watched the mother tell Hernandez she had followed his instructions and sedated her daughter. Police say they followed Hernandez to the girls' home. APD and SWAT officers arrested him after he entered the home.
Hernandez faces charges of Attempted Sexual Abuse of a Minor 1st degree. He was also charged with 2 counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor for a prior case APD was investigating. Detectives say in July 2011 Hernandez molested the 9-year-old daughter of a woman he was dating, the mother was not aware of the alleged abuse at the time.
Hernandez is being held without bail.
Detectives believe that Hernandez may have molested other children and are asking the public to call APD CACU Det. Torres at 786-8573 if they have any information.
