UAA Women Picked To Win GNAC

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — According to the league's coaches, the UAA women's basketball team will be a heavy favorite to win the Great Northwest Athletic Conference title in the 2011-12 season.  The Seawolves earn nine of ten first-place votes in the coaches annual preseason poll released on Tuesday. 

UAA won the GNAC conference tournament title last season and finished with an overall record of 27 and 7, good for a fifth consecutive NCAA Division II tournament appearance.  The Seawolves also bring back their top two scorers from last season, forwards Hanna Johansson ( 13.2 points per game ) and Alysa Horn ( 11.4 points per game ).
