ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Muldoon murder suspect, 25-year-old Lee Chee Chang, is under arrest. Anchorage Police say Chang turned himself in around 9:15 p.m. Wednesday night accompanied by his attorney, Rex Butler.

"Obviously there was a manhunt for him," Butler said by phone late Wednesday. "Even though it was labeled as they wanted to talk to him as a person of interest. So it was incumbent upon him to turn himself in that would ensure his safety. He contacted us (Wednesday,) and we helped him make the arrangements to get into custody."

Butler declined to say what Chang alleges happened that night.

Police say Chang shot and killed Emilio Ramirez, also known as Mario Lopez, at point-blank range early Monday morning in the parking lot of JJ's Lounge. Police say Chang was standing over Ramirez when he shot him.

Chang is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon in Anchorage Jail court. His bail will be set at that time.

Early Wednesday morning, APD homicide detectives arrested Ryan Laulu in connection to the shooting. Police believe Laulu was contacted by one of the victims, Emilio Ramirez, prior to the shooting.

According to police, Laulu met Ramirez at JJ’s Lounge, where Ramirez gave Laulu a handgun. Laulu left the area with the gun, violating his probation.

Police say their investigation of this case continues. Anyone with information is asked to call Anchorage Police at 907-786-8900.
