Prescription Drug Statewide Collection Event Slated for Saturday

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Prescription drugs that have expired or are no longer needed can be dropped off this weekend as part of National Drug Collection Day this Saturday.

Various sites around the state will collect the excess medication.

The Federal Drug Enforcement Administration sponsors the event to help make sure unwanted drugs are properly discarded.

The Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation says the drugs will be collected anonymously.
