ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Alaska State Troopers say one person was killed in a crash with a school bus at Mile 92 of the Parks Highway south of Talkeetna.
Troopers spokesperson Megan Peters says the crash happened where the highway intersects Chisum Drive. A minivan rear-ended a school bus at about 3:20 p.m. The driver of the van was killed, she said.
The driver of the minivan has been identified by Troopers as Richard L. Pride, Jr., 63, from Willow. According to Troopers, Pride was not wearing a seatbelt when he struck the bus.
Pride was pronounced dead on the scene.
A teenager on the bus reported minor injuries. There were reportedly more than a dozen passengers on the school bus.
The damage to the bus has been estimated at $500, while Pride's minivan is demolished.
