Mt. Edgecumbe, South Make One-Year Wait Worth It

November 12, 2011|by Kevin Wells | Channel 2 Sports

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Both the state 3A and 4A volleyball championship matches were reprises of the 2010 finals.  And in both cases, the team that lost a year ago avenged their defeat.

South swept Dimond to capture the 4A title, 25-20, 25-23, 25-11, its fourth state crown in school history.  The Lynx came in having won the previous three state championships, including last season's over South.

In the state 3A title match, Mt. Edgecumbe got revenge over Grace Christian in three games, 25-23, 25-19, 25-22.  The Braves claim the first volleyball state title in program history.
