ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The UAA women's basketball team will not be playing in a sixth consecutive Great Alaska Shootout title game.  But Wednesday's effort against seventh-ranked Miami was certainly title worthy.

The Hurricanes led the Division II Seawolves only 28-26 at halftime being pulling away in the second half to win, 72-55.  Hanna Johansson led UAA with 11 points, while Kaylie Robison and Tijera Mathews each had 10.

For Miami, reigning ACC Player of the Year Shenise Johnson scored a game-high 18 points and South Anchorage High School graduate Sylvia Bullock finished with six.

The tournament has already produced a classic game.  South Florida outlasted Central Michigan in overtime, 86-80 in the women's semifinals and will face the winner between UAA and Miami at 4:00 Thursday in the championship game.

The big play of the game happened in the final seconds of regulation, with South Florida trailing, 74-72.  Andrell Smith was fouled shooting a three pointer as time expired.  She made two of three from the line to tie the game and then added a huge bucket in the overtime period.

Kaneisha Saunders led the Bulls with 23 points, while Crystal Bradford scored 22 to pace Central Michigan.

UAA will meet Central Michigan in Thursday's consolation game at 2:00.  Miami and South Florida will play for the title at 4:00.
