ConocoPhillips Reopening Nikiski LNG Plant

December 15, 2011|By Ted Land | Channel 2 News

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A ConocoPhillips spokesperson says the company expects to resume operations at its Nikiski LNG plant in mid-2012.

The plant has been inactive since November, when it was shut down and preserved for future use.

The company says it's negotiated new gas contracts and an agreement to lease an LNG tanker that will allow for additional exports to Asia.

The plant has been liquefying Cook Inlet natural gas for export to Japan since 1969.
