ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A snow machine crash on Wednesday night killed a Selawik man, according to Alaska State Troopers on Friday.

The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday about 5 miles from Noorvik on the Noorvik to Selawik trail.

AST said 35-year-old Floyd Knox had left Noorvik after playing in a city league basketball tournament.

In the troopers dispatch, Knox was reported to be traveling at an unsafe speed and at one point fell off the trail. He continued down the trail, and a half mile later he lost control and was thrown from his snow machine.

State Troopers said alcohol was a factor in the case and Knox was pronounced dead at the scene by Noorvik EMT’s and firefighters.
