Christmas Tree Recycling: Anchorage and Palmer

December 26, 2011|By Neil Torquiano | Channel 2 News

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Christmas tree recycling for Anchorage and the Valley runs from December 28 through January 15.

The Alaskans for Litter Prevention and Recycling are encouraging tree recyclers to bring the trees to the parking lots at Carrs/Safeway stores in Anchorage, Eagle River and Palmer.

The trees need to be completely bare of all lights and ornaments and plastic bags need to be removed when dropped off.

The trees are turned into woodchips for use on public trails and gardens.

ALPAR suggests donating artificial trees at Bishop’s Attic, Value Village or Salvation Army.

Boy Scout Troop 268 are available for tree pick-ups in Anchorage and Eagle River for a small donation. Eagle River pick-ups are on Saturday only. Call 868-8899 for more information or email recyclechristmastrees@gci.net
