December 27, 2011|By: Mitch Sego | Channel 2 Weather

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A low level storm system has weakened and moved on shore over the northern Panhandle.  Snow showers will mix with rain in Southeast today with temps near freezing much of the day.  To the west, snow showers will be found along Cook Inlet with 1 to 4 inches, especially in the Mat Su and the Anchorage Hillside.  Snow up to six inches is likely near Valdez and Cordova.

Winds will gust to 35 mph in the North Slope.  Wind chills will drop to 55 below at times.  A Wind Chill Advisory is in effect tonight into tomorrow morning.  Flurries and light showers are posible over the west, with light snow and an inch or two of accumulation in the Interior.

Snow will taper off tonight in Southcentral.  Cold temperatures are in store in the west and north today, and by Thursday, will advance over nearly all of the state.  Highs in Anchorage will be in the single digits by the weekend.
