Fort Wainwright Stryker Soldier Killed, 2 Others Wounded in Afghanistan

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A Fort Wainwright Stryker Brigade soldier was killed and two other Stryker soldiers were wounded in Afghanistan on Sunday afternoon, according to Joint Base Elmendorf-Fort Richardson.

20-year-old Private First Class, Dustin Paul Napier died in an exchange of small arms fire in the city of Qalat, in Afghanistan’s Zabul Province.

All three soldiers were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment of the Stryker Brigade.

Napier was from London, Kentucky and his next of kin have been notified.

He joined the Army in July 2010 and arrived at Fort Wainwright in November 2010.

The soldiers deployed to Afghanistan last April for a one-year tour of duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
