ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Anchorage Police Dept. arrested Tex Daniels, the driver accused of the New Year’s Day vehicle-pedestrians crash that injured an Anchorage School District teacher and her boyfriend, and have also finished two other traffic investigations on Tuesday.
APD said 21-year-old Tex Daniels allegedly lost control of his pickup in downtown Anchorage near West 15th Avenue and I Street after trying to pass another vehicle. His truck hit a snow bank and rock pile and then struck Ashley Brotherton and Clayton Wilbanks.
Wilbanks sustained a broken nose, fractured vertebra, a lacerated spleen and scalp lacerations. Brotherton suffered multiple skull fractures, brain swelling, and a broken neck.
Test results for Daniels showed that his blood alcohol content was .226, according to Anchorage Police.
In a separate arrest, police allege 28-year-old Lindsey Tipton of hitting Dennis Heimdahl on Fifth Avenue near the Holiday Station on Sept. 15 while driving a BMW.
