"Big Miracle", VIP screening, in Anchorage

Sunday was the invite-only screening of the movie ‘Big Miracle,’ the film was shown at the Regal Tikahtnu Stadium 16.

About 875 VIP’s, lawmakers, cast and crew members came out to watch the movie, which was shot entirely in Alaska.

They walked the red carpet before movie, which runs about 120 minutes.

The film stars Drew Barrymore, (a Greenpeace activist) andJohn Krasinski, (a small town reporter) and Alaskan talents like Ahmaogak Sweeney, John Pingayak and John Chase.

The movie tells the story of three gray whales that are trapped in ice in the Arctic Circle.

Sweeney, who plays Nathan the son of a Barrow whaling captain, saw the movie for the first time last week in Washington DC.

“It was a little weird at first. Then I was really just proud of myself, really proud.” Sweeney said about watching himself on the big screen.

Chase, who plays a whaling captain, said he was nervous Sunday before heading into the movie.

He’d only seen small clips so far.

“I couldn’t eat lunch today. I was just thinking about the movie and, ya, I’m kind of nervous.” Chase said.

 The movie opens for the public on Feb. 3.
