ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The suspect wanted in connection with a Sunday morning stabbing in Mountain View surrendered on Sunday night, according to Anchorage Police.
APD spokesperson Lt. Dave Parker said 21-year-old Richard Smith turned himself in around 9:00 p.m. last night.
Police alleged that Smith stabbed 56-year-old Thomas Atkinson Jr. multiple times on the 700 block of North Flower Street after an altercation.
APD responded to the scene around 2:30 a.m. after Atkinson Jr. had pounded on a neighbor’s door at the 800 block of North Flower, and a resident called medics believing Atkinson Jr. was having a heart attack.
Police said Atkinson Jr. and his girlfriend were drinking at his home when Smith and another man in his twenties came over and began drinking with them. Police said it does not have a description on the other man, but believe he is not a suspect in the case.
