ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Alaska Aces lost for the sixth time in nine games on Wednesday, falling to the Idaho Steelheads, 3-2 in the ninth contest of Alaska's 11-game road trip. Nick Mazzolini scored both of the Aces goals to snap a six-game drought, but Alaska never led. The Aces best chance to tie the game in the final minute was denied by Idaho goaltender Jerry Kuhn, who robbed Wes Goldie at point-blank range.
With the loss, the Aces drop to 32-12-6 overall, still tops in the ECHL. The Aces and Steelheads play twice more Friday and Saturday in Boise.
