ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Anchorage Police Department says an officer allegedly driving erratically on the Glenn Highway in a cellphone video posted on YouTube by an Eagle River man was eating at the time.

APD spokesperson Lt. Dave Parker says the officer informed superiors Wednesday afternoon.

A passenger in David Moore's vehicle took cell phone footage of the vehicle while on the Glenn Highway Tuesday. The video shows an APD patrol car speeding up, slowing down and swerving, according to Moore.

"I noticed that he was looking over at his computer," Moore said.

Officer go through several hours of training on how to effectively and safely multitask while driving, according to APD Deputy Police Chief Steve Hebbe.

"We do a lot of driving training in the academies, and then we do it as we go along," Hebbe said.

Moore did not file an official complaint with APD about what he says he saw.
