ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Bartlett High School's girls softball coach, Dennis Franks, was fired this week as head coach.
Franks received a letter from the Anchorage Sports Association telling him that, “With the controversy of the incident involving one of your players and her parents, we feel that we need a change of direction in the program.”
Franks said he has no idea what that controversy is.
“I have no idea. I have not a clue, I am completely in the dark.” Franks said.
ASA said it is a personnel issue and would not comment.
The Anchorage Police Department served Franks with a court summons Thursday after a parent of one of his players filed for a petition for a long-term stalking protective order this week.
Franks has been a coach in Anchorage for the past 17 years, two of them at Bartlett.
During that time he said he has never had any complaints against him.
