KANAGA ISLAND, Alaska — Alaska Volcano Observatory officials have raised Kanaga Volocano's advisory level, saying it may have possible explosive activity in the future.

A volcanic tremor from the mountain was detected at 6:23 Saturday morning, indicating that sudden ash explosions and ash clouds above 20,000 feet above sea level are possible.

AVO officials increased the aviation color code to yellow and the current volcano alert level was moved from normal to advisory.

Kanaga Volcano is located on the northern corner of Kanaga Island, one of the most southern islands in the Aleutian chain.
