ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Anchorage police have identified the officers involved in the early Tuesday morning shooting that was related to several alleged overnight robberies.
APD said K-9 officers Lars Tulip and Scott Huston fired shots at a vehicle on 30th Avenue between Spenard Road and Arctic Boulevard around 4:30 a.m. on March, 20.
Tulip and Huston were attempting to conduct a traffic stop with the vehicle that was suspected in two overnight robberies, which occurred at the Brown Jug liquor store on Minnesota and Spenard at 11 p.m. Monday, and another at the Holiday gas station on 88th Ave and Jewel Lake Rd around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Police said the vehicle tried to flee and began ramming several citizen and patrol vehicles and officers Tulip and Huston discharged their duty weapons at the suspects.
One of the suspects received injuries from the gunfire and was sent to a local hospital where he remains treated. The other person was injured during the ramming and was later treated and released.
