Alaska In-State Proposed Pipeline Appears Dead in Senate

March 29, 2012|By Dan Fiorucci | Channel 2 News

JUNEAU, Alaska — HB9, a proposed small-diameter natural gas pipeline from the North Slope, appears to be dead in the Alaska Senate.

On Wednesday, the Alaska House voted in favor of the proposal but a few hours later – the Alaska Senate effectively killed HB9 by placing the bill into no less than three committees for further review.

The move effectively puts an end to any effort to move the controversial pipeline forward.

There are nearly three weeks left in the legislative session and it’s highly unlikely the bill will could clear three committees in time for a vote on the Alaska Senate floor.
