Judge Extends Shell Restraining Order Against Greenpeace

March 29, 2012|By Ted Land | Channel 2 News

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Shell Oil recently asked a federal judge to extend a restraining order against the environmental group Greenpeace, and on Thursday the company got just what it wanted.

According to the order, Greenpeace activists must stay away from all Shell vessels and personnel from now until the end of October.

The restraining order applies only in U.S. waters and specifically bans Greenpeace from breaking into Shell property, interfering with operations, or endangering the lives of any Shell employee or contractor.

Greenpeace protesters recently boarded Shell vessels in New Zealand and Finland in an effort to spread an anti-offshore drilling message.
