ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Since the War on Terror began more than a decade ago, Alaska's troops have been on the front lines.
Thousands of military members from Alaska, and stationed in Alaska, have served in Afghanistan.
As combat troops prepare to pull out of Afghanistan by 2014, Channel 2 News has traveled to the war-torn country to profile some of Alaska's military members currently serving.
Reporter Todd Walker and photographer Albert Lutan have traveled more than 13,000 miles to embed with JBER's 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division at Forward Operating Base Salerno in the eastern part of Afghanistan.
They will be following Alaska's soldiers through day-to-day activities, missions and assignments to give Alaskans a unique view of life for their friends, family and neighbors currently deployed in Afghanistan.
