One Anchorage, the group leading the effort to extend anti-discrimination legal protections to gay and transgender people in Anchorage is asking its supporters what it should do next.
Saturday afternoon the group met with supporters and members of the community to decide if it should go before the Anchorage Assembly or if it should again try to get a ballot initiative before voters. Nothing is off the table.
“This is a freight train, there’s no stopping it.” Jackie Buckley who’s on the leadership team of One Anchorage said.
Reporters weren’t allowed into the meeting and were told that since the law doesn’t appear to be passing some gay and transgender people who came to talk with the group were concerned about their losing their jobs.
