Anchorage Police Say 2 Shot, 1 Dead at Midtown Garage

April 18, 2012|By Jason Lamb and Chris Klint | Channel 2 News

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Anchorage police responded to the scene of shootings inside a Midtown garage that left one person dead, with another injured and taken to the hospital Wednesday evening.

APD spokesperson Lt. Dave Parker says officers were called to the R&R Garage at 514 W. Fireweed Ln. shortly before 6 p.m.

Parker says a white male suspect in the shootings, in his twenties last seen wearing jeans and a T-shirt, possibly with an Eastern European accent, is still on the loose.

K-9 units arrived at about 6:30 p.m. to aid in pursuing the suspect, who was believed to be on foot, but the track proved "inconclusive," with detectives and crime-scene units taking over.

APD is warning people to avoid the vicinity of Fireweed and C Street Wednesday evening.
