ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A Mat-Su Valley power outage Wednesday afternoon was caused by issues with a power line, according to Chugach Electric officials.
Chugach spokesperson Phil Steyer says a 115,000-volt transmission line from the Eklutna power station to the Matanuska Electric Association “tripped” for an unknown reason. MEA is now examining the line and looking for the cause.
Steyer wasn’t immediately sure how many customers were impacted, although MEA has apparently restored roughly half of the lost power load.
Municipal Light and Power in Anchorage says it wasn’t affected.
