ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Anchorage police arrested a 54-year-old trucker Wednesday on an outstanding arrest warrant for possession and distribution of child pornography.
APD spokesperson Anita Shell says David J. Alexander was taken into custody on six counts of possession and two counts of distribution of child pornography, all of which are felonies. Alexander has a prior conviction for distribution of child pornography, elevating the new distribution charges to class-A felonies.
APD Cyber Crimes Detective Mark Thomas was told in March that Alexander, who worked as a delivery truck driver with routes in Southcentral Alaska, possessed images and videos depicting the abuse of young children. APD and other members of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force subsequently served a search warrant on Alexander’s home on the 8500 block of Blackberry Street, where they found devices containing several hundred such images and videos.
The materials recovered from Alexander’s residence are under review by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to determine their origin. APD is asking anyone who has been victimized by or knows more about Alexander to call police at 786-8900.
