APD Confirms Identity of Midtown Shooting Victims

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The Anchorage Police Department confirmed the identity of Wednesday evening’s shooting victim as 43-year-old Michael Curry.

APD responded to a shooting in midtown at R&R Garage at 514 W. Fireweed Ln. where two employees were shot in an attempted robbery.

23-year-old Alfredo Esteban was injured and was recovering in a hospital on Thursday morning.

APD Detective Slav Markiewicz said police spoke with Esteban on Wednesday, and will interview garage employees, along with following leads.

Police released a few more details on the shooting suspect’s description:  6' tall, medium build, White man in his 20s, wearing blue jeans, white t-shirt, white tennis shoes and black beanie.

Police said the suspect may have an Eastern European accent and may have left the scene in a midsized dark SUV.

APD searched the area with K-9 units and said the track proved “inconclusive,” and had detectives and crime-scene units take over the suspect search.
