High Speed Chase End with Spike Strips

April 29, 2012|By KTUU News Staff | Channel 2 News

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Troopers say a late night, high speed chase with a wanted man ended with the Anchorage police deploying spike strips.

According to Troopers, it began just after 11 p.m. with an attempt to stop a 1990 Honda Accord near mile 33 of the Glenn Hwy. for multiple moving violations.  The driver of the car, 31-year-old Patrick Moore, failed to stop at the direction of Troopers and continued at a high rate of speed.

Troopers ended their pursuit due to Moore’s reckless driving.  However, the spike strips APD deployed disabled at least one of the car’s tires.

The car was found on the corner of Cordova St. and 5th Ave. and police located Moore at the Sheraton Hotel, where he was taken into custody.

Troopers say police discovered Moore had an outstanding arrest warrant and a revoked driver’s license.  They also found a small amount of methamphetamines in his possession.

As the investigation continues, Troopers expect further charges to be filed.
